Employed full time: Median usual weekly real earnings

Rotate cellphone for BIGGER chart

This chart shows how much money people make from their jobs.

It only includes people who get paid wages or salaried income, like commissions or tips.

It doesn’t include people who work for themselves.

This information shows how much people usually earn each week, before taxes and other deductions. If someone has more than one job, this information is only about their main job.

In the past, people were asked how much they usually earned per week. Now, they are asked what time period is easiest for them to report their earnings and how much they usually earn in that time period.

If someone reports their earnings on a different schedule than weekly, we convert it to a weekly amount. The word “usual” is determined by each person’s own understanding of it. If someone asks for a definition of “usual,” we say it means more than half the weeks they worked in the past 4 or 5 months.
